Which is Best Vlogging Camera Brand? Panasonic or Canon?

Investing in a dedicated camera can be a terrific way to step up your game and capture even higher-quality material if you're trying to stand out from the sea of personal blogs on the internet, each filled with photos taken on a smartphone. Great out-of-the-box image quality might not be the primary requirement, depending on the type of blogging you want to conduct. When choosing a camera, travel bloggers may put portability first so that it may be quickly thrown in a bag or pocket. For self-recording, those who intend to include video in their blogs could find a completely articulating screen useful.

In the previous blog, we gave our suggestions for the top blogging cameras based on our testing of more than 20 cameras. These choices were made taking into account their pricing, feature set, and general performance. Following is a comparison between best Panasonic Cameras and Canon Cameras

GH6 and GH5 from Panasonic

The $1,700 GH5-II and the more expensive $2,200 GH6 actually replaced Panasonic's GH5, a very well-liked vlogging camera for a very long time. The GH6 significantly improves almost every aspect, enabling 5.7K at 60 fps and 4K at up to 120 fps, in addition to editable ProRes codecs. Additionally, it has excellent handling and the best in-body stabilization of any camera. The drawbacks include poor contrast-detect autofocus and average battery life.

Also worth considering is the GH5 Mark II, which is not just $500 less expensive but also ideal for live-streamers. Although it isn't a significant improvement over the GH5, it offers more for the money than the majority of competition cameras, including providing 4K 10-bit 60p video, a completely articulating LCD, and outstanding in-body stabilization. Similar to the GH6, the contrast-detect autofocus technology is the biggest flaw.

G100 Panasonic

Like the ZV-1, the Panasonic G100 is designed specifically for vlogging, although it also has interchangeable lenses. Fully articulating flip-out screen, 5-axis hybrid stabilization (optical/electronic), 4K V-Log-L video at up to 30 fps (albeit 4K video is regrettably chopped at 1.47X), 1080p at up to 60 fps, and contrast-detect AF with face/eye detection are all features of this camera. The Nokia OZO system's ability to isolate audio to a specific person via face-detection tracking is its coolest feature; this may possibly increase audio quality. The best part is that it is currently available for $750 with a 12-32mm lens.

Panasonic Lumix ZS200/TZ200

The top travel zoom camera available right now is the Panasonic Lumix ZS200/TZ200.

Panasonic is credited with creating the travel-zoom camera category, which consists of small, portable cameras with built-in, long zoom lenses. The ZS line (also known as TZ outside of the US) has dominated sales despite fierce competition, and the excellent Lumix ZS200 has maintained this trend (called TZ200 outside the US).

Panasonic was able to keep the camera body roughly the same size as preceding ZS-series cameras while fitting a much larger 1-inch sensor into the camera to give significantly higher image quality, as we first witnessed with the Lumix ZS100 / TZ100. It also offers a somewhat textured grip in front for improved gripping, which we considered to be an improvement on the design.

According to our tests, it produces nicely clear, vivid photos with a good dynamic range and excellent noise handling, which is more than adequate to capture those priceless journey moments. Although the zoom lens isn't nearly as powerful as some, the adaptable 15x zoom should still handily outperform all smartphones for the majority of people. You get a good touchscreen interface, 4K video, and (an unfortunately small) electronic viewfinder. This is the cool, all-in-one small camera you want if you want high-quality pictures.

EOS M50 Mark II Canon

Canon's EOS M50 Mark II is another excellent purchase if you're on a tight budget, especially if you don't mind shooting exclusively in 1080p. Even while the Canon M50 isn't a significant improvement over the original, the fully-articulating display, continuous eye-tracking in the video, and live YouTube streaming have increased its appeal for vloggers. It can support 4K, but only with a significant cut of 1.5 times and contrast-detect autofocus. Still, at $699 with a 15-45mm lens, it's a nice choice for those on a budget.

EOS R6 Canon

Canon's EOS R6 delivers practically all the features you need in a vlogging camera if you have the money for it. 10-bit 4K video can be captured at up to 60 frames per second, and the Dual Pixel autofocus system with eye and face tracking is highly dependable. Additionally, it has a flip-out display and 5-axis optical stabilization and is reasonably small in size. As you may have heard, overheating can be a problem, but firmware updates have resolved that problem, and it now just affects video settings that are more demanding.

PowerShot G5 X Mark II by Canon

The new PowerShot G5 X Mark II is fast, compact, and powerful.

The new PowerShot G5 X Mark II isn't only a small camera powerhouse; it's also more capable and useful than the G5 X's earlier model. It is more compact, has a longer 5x zoom lens, and now also features crop-free 4K video capture. But has Canon prioritized portability and power at the expense of everything else?

The Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II and the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III were both released at the same time and feature the same new "stacked" CMOS sensor and DIGIC 8 processor. This allows for a step-change in video recording capabilities, up from full HD to 4K, as well as improved high-ISO performance and an unusual fully-automatic 30fps burst mode that captures images in Canon's own highly effective CR3 RAW format.

This emphasis on speed, power, and processing makes us think of Sony's ongoing development of its pricey but compact RX100 series cameras. The new G5 X Mark II includes other features as well that have a Sony-like feel to it. Hold off till we reach the viewfinder.

The G5 X also sports a new 5x zoom lens with a new maximum 120mm equivalent focal length, which is longer than the lens on the original PowerShot G5 X and has a fast f/1.8 aperture at the widest zoom setting and only drops to f/2.8 even at full zoom. The G5 X Mark II seems like it might be among the greatest small cameras you can buy right now just based on its lens, and its 1-inch sensor offers it an immediate advantage over point-and-shoot cameras and even the top camera phones in terms of image quality.

Future cameras

There are some intriguing possibilities in the works if you're not quite ready to buy. The popular EOS 7D DSLR has a mirrorless EOS R variant, which Canon has unveiled as the EOS R7. It could take the place of Canon's current M-series cameras because it has an APS-C sensor and brand-new RF-S lenses. A 32.5-megapixel APS-C sensor, 4K 60 fps video, an articulating display, and more are among the specifications. If our future review supports the buzz, all of that will make it a top vlogging option.

Additionally, Canon unveiled the cheaper EOS R10 model, which has a 24.2-megapixel sensor and may work well as a vlogging camera. Both cameras will be available by the end of 2022.

In addition, Fujifilm recently unveiled the X-H2S, its new top mirrorless camera, which costs $2,000. It has a stackable 26.2-megapixel sensor with backside illumination and a host of remarkable capabilities. A flip-out display, 6.2K 30fps video, quicker focusing, 40 fps burst shooting without blackout, and 7-stop in-body stabilization are a few of the features. When it debuts on July 7th, this might be a good vlogging option if you have the money.
